The September breakfast meetup was held at the Scottsdale Breakfast Club and we had 18+ people join in on the morning. We had more than RSVP’ed forcing some to sit at any open table as this location is typically very busy. Sometimes we sit on the open patio but today was just warm enough to sit inside.

At the request of Philippe, Haus Murphy’s was the location for this month’s General Membership Meeting & Dinner. I have been coming here for years and for a couple of years I was leading a monthly BMW Owner’s Ride to Dinner here for GO AZ while I was still working there. It had been a while since I had been there, so I was excited about this month’s event!

The 8th Annual GO AZ Motorcycles Sedona Ride left out of Scottsdale bright and early in the morning. The 55 riders that came out to ride were broken into 4 groups, led by myself, DJ (El Vice Presidente), Todd and Steve (Road Captain). Bringing up the rear was our sweep, El Chino Loco (Rodney).

This month’s dinner was at the site where our original club sponsors, Phoenix International Motorsports who later became Triumph Superstore used to reside. Since, Fox Concepts have taken over and converted the old dealership into one of the hottest spots to hang out and get a bite and/or a drink in Central Phoenix.

Today was promising to be either really hot or “monsoony” when I left the house on my Honda. The ride up was somewhat cool and overcast, but at least dry and not very humid which made for a nice ride up through Wickenburg and into Congress for this morning’s 2nd Sunday Breakfast at Nichol’s West, a perennial favorite of the club’s.

Usually our Meatfest is held at the end of the year but we saw an opportunity at a newer, highly recommended place to try out and bring the club to the West Valley. We held our first Mid-Year Meatfest at Serra Gaucha in the P83 complex in Peoria near GO AZ Motorcycles.

This morning’s ride to Saguaro Lake started for me in Buckeye with temps in the mid 70’s. I was very excited to take the Honda across town because of the great weather! I wasn’t disappointed! I left my garage at about 7:00 AM for the 65 mile trek across town. I wasn’t in a real rush because I had gotten a report that the Lakeshore Restaurant opened at 9, not at our breakfast meet time of 8.

This dinner was originally scheduled to be at Airirang Korean BBQ. Rodney and I stopping in on Wednesday night to make sure they had enough staff to accommodate our group. Low and behold, the place had been sold and conditions were quite different! The next morning, the day of the dinner, we decided to move to Pacific Seafood Buffet which was in the same complex.

Our yearly Mother’s Day visit to the Rock Springs Café started with the best weather for a romp up Loop 303 to I-17 and up to Rock Springs. The combination of the cool temperature, overcast skies with the predawn showers made for a nice, crisp smell in the air. Motorcycles are happiest with this type of weather!

Planning for the Alien Encounters tour starts about a year ago when California AZRATPacker, Darlene Fong sent me a couple of interesting links she found while looking up alien themed places to visit. The first was Coyote’s Flying Saucer Repair in Ocotillo, CA and the second was the Integretron in Landers. Loving the two suggestions for stopping points on a future ride, I started to formulate a route to tie the two together. I then added a trip through Death Valley and El Chino Loco suggested the Atomic Inn in Beatty, NV as a stop for the night. Behold, the Alien Encounters Grand Tour was born!
